Bennite
Socialism 2006
Benn is certainly the most important figure in the British Socialist movement
over the past 30 years providing a reasoned and intelligent socialist voice on
tv, radio, newsprint and public meetings.   For many on the left, he is a huge
inspiration injecting confidence and enthusiasm when otherwise despondency
and cynicsm would prevail.

The site is called Bennite Socialism for a purpose.   Benn represents a strand
of Socialism that many can relate to, idealistic and moral but grounded in
reality and experience.  This appeals to those who are drawn to socialism but
find the revolutionary rhetoric of most far left and Trotskyist groups to be alien
to the public at large.      The disciples of New Labour would attempt to
consign these views to the historical dustbin of the early 80's.    It is called
Bennite Socialism '
2006' because it is important to stress that they represent a
view of politics that are vital, important and relevant today.

New articles, book reviews, quotes, links or any useful information will be

At the age of 81, five years into his 'retirement' after
51 years as an MP, it would seem that Tony Benn's
popularity with the general public has never been
higher.
However, the few websites covering Benn's political
role are sparse and seldom updated.   This site is an
attempt to change that.
